Designed for a retired couple, House M37 by BAST and Littoral is a compact refuge in the forests of the Landes. The design preserves the natural landscape, avoiding the felling of trees and keeping the site's original undergrowth. A central courtyard separates the living space for permanent residence from a guest annex, creating a secluded yet open connection with nature. Built with a timber frame on a polished concrete base, the house has anodized aluminum windows that open exclusively onto the courtyard, enhancing privacy and intimacy. Skylights provide natural light and ventilation, harmonizing the interior with the surrounding forest.
