Antoine is a small mountain shelter in the Swiss Alps, made as a tribute to the alpine experience and to a writer. A wooden cabin, just big enough for the life of one man, is hidden inside a rock of projected concrete.
Switzerland has a long habit of hiding buildings in the mountains: the country is full of camouflaged bunkers. The architects borrowed that trick, and it fits a landscape that is far more urbanised than it looks. Military architecture built on camouflage has fascinated architects for a long time. The French philosopher Paul Virilio wrote about it back in 1975.
