The house stands in The Acres, a settlement on 70 acres of woods and hills that Wright designed in the late 1940s for scientists from the research laboratories of the pharmaceutical company Upjohn. Samuel and Dorothy Eppstein worked there too. The owners cast some of the house’s 3,000 concrete blocks themselves. In all, four houses to his designs were built in the settlement; today it is listed on the US National Register of Historic Places.
After twenty years of neglect, the house was restored in 2016–2021 by its current owners, Marika Broere and Tony Hillebrandt. They kept the original plan and brought Wright’s original furniture back into the interior.
