A public housing tower for the elderly. The budget was modest and the plans inside are the most ordinary kind: studios and one-bedroom units with straight walls. All the complexity is moved to the outside. The stairs, elevators and balconies are round, and some of the balconies are turned 90 degrees, so they read as separate capsules stuck onto vertical concrete piers.
The whole facade is built from a single type of concrete block with vertical ribs. Twelve variations of it were made to turn corners and follow concave and convex curves. The block fans out toward the south: the living rooms face the sun, and the north side is almost closed.
