Adriano Olivetti, an innovator and visionary, transformed traditional workshops into modern factories. Aware of the importance of architecture, he commissioned the Venetian architect Carlo Scarpa—one of the key masters of the 20th century—to design the Negozio Olivetti as a refined showcase for the legendary Olivetti typewriters and calculators.
Soon after it opened, the space became a venue for small but prestigious art exhibitions. However, in 1997 the Olivetti flagship store was closed, and a year later a souvenir shop opened here—a decision not entirely in keeping with the subtlety of Scarpa's architectural concept.
