Xavier Corberó's house stands in Esplugues, a suburb of Barcelona. The sculptor bought the land in 1968 and has been building ever since without calling it finished. Today it is nine linked structures and courtyards. Layered arches run along the outside, and the staircases inside look like something Escher would draw. Corberó was a friend of Dalí, which may explain them.
Inside there are work studios, living rooms and ten bedrooms. Corberó's own pieces sit everywhere, next to objects he bought over the years. About the building he said he uses reason so things don't fall apart, and everything else comes from aesthetics, ethics and, if you like, something divine. Salva López shot the photos for the Wall Street Journal.
