The cultural center stands on the site of a former school library at the Centro Educativo in Morelia. Before drawing anything, the architects asked the schoolchildren how they imagined it and what they would want inside to enjoy it more.
The building holds a reading area with a library, a room for yoga and Dalcroze eurhythmics, and two visual arts rooms. The walls inside are white, so the colorful book spines stand out. The site is squeezed between existing buildings and walkways, so daylight is brought in by lattice windows with solar panels, open courtyards and a patio by the entrance. It is built entirely of brick.
