Centr'Al is a community building in Albertpool, a neighbourhood in Forest, one of Brussels' municipalities. It is really two buildings with amenities for the locals, planned as the gateway to the district. B-architecten wanted them to put this corner of the city on the map.
The white marble façade is cut by two kinds of openings: clear glass windows alternating with translucent polycarbonate panels. At night the artificial light inside makes the panels glow a diffused orange from the street. By day the same panels let soft natural light into the rooms. The architects say they "liven up the building's functions." Landscape design is by OMGEVING.
