The new Arts and Science faculty building of Osaka University of Arts. Its three-tiered roof sits on the curved site as if someone set it down gently from above. The idea was an open place, something like a park or a square.
Inside, the classroom walls are 3 mm aluminium: 32 double-curved panels, each a different shape, with 6 mm joints. Kikukawa's designers took every measurement on site. In the faculty rooms the aluminium is pure and 1.5 mm thick, and it diffuses light more softly. More than half of those panels are doors, glued on the same way as the fixed walls.
