The house is half buried in the dunes of Oostduinkerke. The bedrooms are below: sand on one side, glass on the other. Higher up the ceiling rises, drops again in the kitchen, and beyond it the room goes up to double height toward a window on the horizon. A vertical shaft runs through all of it up to the roof.
The stairs, the kitchen island and the bathroom fixtures were cast in concrete in a single pour. Inside, the concrete was left as it is, with the marks of the formwork. Outside is plaster matched in color to the sand and grass, so the new house looks worn by the wind.
